I don’t agree with Joyce Carol Oates, of course she is JCO. Sometimes the first statement is like lighting a fuse on stick of dynamite, the rest of the story just goes kablooey!
You’re right. Sometimes. For the most part, like crocheting a beautiful blanket, you don’t finalize that first line of stitching until you are coming back around at the end with the detailing and perfecting. Then, and only then, is the beauty from the last color portrayed in the first.
